The Galactic Ant is a pattern that Lance and Cheech kind of dreamed up one day at the front desk. It shares elements of many very effective flies, and is a great option for a high-vis, high floating foam fly that still maintains a small profile. Swap out colors at will to match local insects!

The Local Fuzzball!
The original Fuzzball that Cheech learned was a gray dubbed body, and both grizzly and brown hackle palmered through it. This version only uses one color of hackle, but it works just as well. Some anglers love it as a midge, some love it as a larger attractor, and some even retrieve it under the surface.

The Slim Bugger!
For years the common theme at Henry’s Lake was a very slim bugger with a dubbed body and a sparse tail. These flies usually use small dry fly hackle as shown in this video. At Henry’s lake, this style fly is very effective on an intermediate fly line and stripped slowly over weed beds. Cheech likes to keep this style of fly weightless because it will move much better in the water.
