In this fly tying tutorial Cade Moore ties the Next Gen Perdigon!
The Next Gen Perdigon like other Perdigon patterns gets down quick, is a quick easy tie but has the added benefit of a durable hot spot tail! I have been messing around with hot spot perdigons for awhile now and didnt want to be limited to just a hot spot for the collar. I messed with a few different materials but landed on Flex-Floss as it still allows the fly to be very durable, sink fast and offered in many different colors. I have fished these from picky Tailwater Brown Trout to aggressive backcountry Cutties and this fly gets the job done! Some of my favorite color variations include the Peacock for general all-purpose use, Reverse PMD when PMD’s are popping off and Firestarter for a great attractor variation. I tie these using 2.0mm beads all the way to 4.0mm to adapt to any water type. This is going to be a go-to Perdigon pattern for every angler and can be tied in unlimited color variations for any situation!
