Challenge Family returns to US with new event in New Jersey

After the announcement of Challenge Cap Quebec this fall, Challenge Family continues its return to North America with the announcement of another addition – the Challenge New Jersey State Triathlon on the same weekend – July 20 to 21, 2024. The new race will be one of the few short-course races on the Challenge Family series, joining Barcelona and Istanbul.

Formerly the New Jersey State Triathlon, the race is based in Merced Country Park, which serves as the base for the US Olympic Rowing Team. The race has previously sold out with 3,500 athletes. The swim takes place in Mercer Lake, followed by a bike on “local and closed/traffic-free county roads around the perimeter of the park. The run is in the park on “paved trails running along the banks of the lake and through shaded wood areas.”

The race will offer three qualifying slots for the Championship, Challenge Family’s “qualification-only flagship event held at the x-bionic sphere in Samorin, Slovakia.”
