There’s always lots of new gear that gets released around the Ironman World Championship, and Vision has returned to its Kona roots with the launch of three new products here on the Big Island today: the Metro TFE Team Edition bars, a new Metro TTW disc wheel (that won’t be in use at the Ironman, but will be a popular option on courses around the world and the Metron 91 SL wheel.
We’ll look forward to doing deeper reviews on all these products down the line, but here’s the info Vision released today. (We did have a chance to get some photos of the bars earlier this week!)
Metron TFE Team Edition (US$740)

The new aero bars feature a 20-degree raised platform, a deeper extension profile and enhanced ergonomic pads for a customized fit. They are somewhat customizable to allow riders to dial in both a comfortable and speedy position. Vision’s testing puts the bars at 2.4 watts quicker than the TFE Pro. They come in three length options that weigh between 380 and 392 g, and are very adjustable, too.
Metron 91 SL (US$922 – front, $1,540 – rear)

While disc wheels aren’t allowed on the Big Island, 90 mm-deep wheels sure are. The full-carbon Metron 91 SL is designed for the Kona winds despite the deep profile thanks to a balance between lateral stability and aerodynamics. The tubeless ready wheel is designed for that elusive balance of speed and stability athletes are looking for as they fly down the Queen K and weighs in at 1,850 g for the pair.
Metron TTW (US$1,815)

Disc wheels aren’t allowed here in Kona, but you’ll likely see this lightweight disc at other races around the world. It’s built on the foundation of the Metron 45 wheel with PRS hubs that have fairings attached. The end result is a lightweight, responsive and comfortable wheel that’s also super-fast. The new TTW reduces drag by 20 per cent over the previous model.
