This is a back-pocket fly for many fishing guides when regular foam hoppers get refusals. It’s an older, low-floating pattern tied with all natural materials but is still a o-to fly for picky trout eating grasshoppers.
Hook: 2XL dry or 3 XL nymph size 10 or 12
Thread: Tan
Body: Tan or olive dubbing
Rib: Tan thread
Legs: Knotted Pheasant Tail
Wing: Stiffened mottled turkey
Post: White calf tail or synthetic
Hackle: Grizzly
