
Inspiring news from California’s Mendocino Coast: In the last year, Coho Salmon returns have surged to their highest numbers since extensive monitoring began! The Noyo and Ten Mile rivers exceeded ESA recovery targets, and the Garcia and Big Rivers saw record returns.
While Central California Coast Coho still have a long way to go towards rebuilding their populations, the improving numbers of salmon are a thrilling sign of progress.
From the banks of the South Fork Noyo River, TU’s Anna Halligan and CDFW’s Sarah Gallagher got together to celebrate the encouraging numbers of returning salmon and the partnerships working together to recover these runs. Teamwork makes the streams work!
