Garmin has rolled out firmware version 27.14 for the Edge 540, 840, and 1040 series (and version 13.14 for the Edge 1050), bringing a host of fixes and improvements – especially following the somewhat buggy 27.13 release. This update resolves critical issues like device freezes on the map screen and connectivity problems with the inReach Mini 2. Beyond the fixes, it includes a long list of enhancements carried over from previous versions: animated performance graphs, support for Campagnolo 13-speed groupsets, BLE software updates, and improved handling of large courses. Notably, this update landed at about the same time as the semi-regular map updates (2025.10) – so if you’re seeing a “bigger turtle” during navigation, this is why. As always, for the fastest and most reliable map updates, a USB cable is the way to go.
