Dubai-based athlete Ghani Souleymane launches Project 100 x T100 in Guinness World Record bid

Dubai-based athlete Ghani Souleymane has launched an unprecedented endurance challenge – 100 consecutive 100km triathlons in 100 days – each consisting of a 2km swim, 80km bike, and 18km run. The quest began on August 8 and will culminate on November 16 at the Dubai T100. Over the course of the challenge, Souleymane will cover 200km of swimming, 8,000km of cycling, and 1,800km of running, making a total of 10,000km across swim, bike and run combined.

The final day of his 100 day challenge is scheduled to coincide with the Dubai T100 triathlon, allowing him to complete his last 100km triathlon alongside hundreds of fellow participants.

Souleymane has framed his mission as far more than a test of human limits. It is a Guinness World Record attempt that aims to raise significant funds for the Al Jalila Foundation Heroes of Hope program, supporting children fighting cancer and those affected by conflict.

He is no stranger to pushing boundaries. In 2020, he completed 30 ultramarathons in 30 days and, in 2021, followed that with 30 consecutive half Ironman races. Most recently in 2023 he undertook 30 full Ironman challenges in 30 days. He uses his platform to promote mental resilience, inclusivity, and social causes in communities.

His current effort is backed by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and forms part of the global T100 Triathlon World Tour. The Dubai T100 event is scheduled for November 13 to 16 and will draw both professional and amateur athletes to a festival of triathlon.

Souleymane’s motivation is clear. In a recent Instagram post he shared a quote from Pastor W.F. Kumuyi: “Greatness does not discriminate. It does not see where you are from, what you look like, or who you know. Greatness is for those who work for it.”

That belief underpins how Souleymane presents himself – a record-breaking athlete on a mission to inspire, empower, and uplift through sport.

As the 100 day countdown unfolds, Souleymane invites the public to join portions of the swim, ride or run, uniting the community in movement and support for the cause.

Project 100 x T100 is not just a display of endurance, power, and determination. It is a powerful reminder of the impact of sport as a force for good in the world.
