Ironman 70.3 Augusta: Findlay Undefeated in 2025
At the Augusta 70.3, Paula Findlay extended her perfect 2025 record over the 70.3 distance, claiming a commanding victory by nearly three minutes. This marks her fourth consecutive 70.3 win this season, adding Augusta to earlier triumphs in Oceanside, St. George, and Boise. With just under six weeks until the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Findlay heads into the final stretch with impressive momentum.
Two more Canadians delivered strong results in Augusta’s professional women’s field: Amelie Kretz placed fifth, while Maia Watson came ninth in her professional debut, a promising start to her long-course career.
In the men’s race, American Jason West took the title with a dominant two-minute margin. Canadian fans had hoped to see Lionel Sanders return to racing, but the two-time 70.3 winner in 2025 (Oceanside and St. George) withdrew in the lead-up. In a recent YouTube update, Sanders confirmed he is still recovering from a sacral stress fracture and now plans to return in time for the World Championship in Marbella.
Ironman Chattanooga: Fauteux Secures First Ironman Podium Along with Kona Qualification
Over in Tennessee at Ironman Chattanooga, Danielle Fauteux delivered a career-best performance. The Canadian athlete finished third place in the women’s race, securing her 2026 Kona qualification and notching the fastest bike split of the day.
On the men’s side, Sam Long made a late-stage decision not to race. Sweden’s Rasmus Svenningsson took the win ahead of Cameron Wurf, with both athletes punching tickets to Kona. Trevor Foley rounded out the podium in third, just 45 seconds short of qualifying, though the American celebrated his fifth podium of the season, noting this as a personal best.
