Last Sunday September 28th, Jason West ran down the finishing chute at Ironman 70.3 Augusta, arms outstretched and smile breaking wide as he crossed the line first. The win marked a milestone: his 20th career victory as a professional triathlete.
Or so he thought.
“It was fun to go through and actually list all of these out,” West said a few days later. “Turns out it was actually 21.”
Since beginning his professional career in 2013, West has amassed victories across nearly every discipline and format the sport offers, from sprint-distance ITU races to non-draft Olympic and 70.3 races.
“Sport is very much a ‘what have you done lately’ dynamic,” West reflected. “It can often feel like you’re just coming up short all the time. I think it’s important to reflect back on everything you’ve achieved to see how far you’ve come.”
The milestone in Augusta offered that rare pause and moment of recognition. As West shared on Instagram post-race: “This marks my 20th win as a professional which feels wild to me. Each one is just as special as the last.”

What makes his journey remarkable isn’t just the volume of wins – it’s the versatility and staying power.
“My race wins span 10 years, and I’ve been able to win over [almost] every distance and format of triathlon,” West says. “Now all I need to do is win an Ironman…I think that would be really special.”
He credits much of his longevity in the sport to a constant pursuit of new goals, noting that “seek[ing] out new challenges…helps keep things fresh and keeps [him] motivated.”
May we take a moment to celebrate this man who has often been called “the fastest feet in triathlon.”
“There’s nothing quite like the feeling of breaking the tape,” West shares. “And I feel incredibly fortunate that I’ve been able to do it so many times.”
