Sailfish Night of the Year Crowns Roth and Celebrates the Season’s Standout Performances

Sailfish Night of the Year, known simply as SNOTY, once again delivered a festive close to the triathlon calendar. For fifteen years the gala has served as the sport’s shared year-end gathering, bringing athletes, fans, and partners together for an evening of celebration, reflection, and recognition.

At the centre of the night was a result that has become almost synonymous with SNOTY. Challenge Roth claimed Race of the Year for the fourteenth straight time, earning a commanding share of the public vote. The iconic event continued its run as triathlon’s most beloved long distance experience, finishing ahead of the World Championship courses in Hawaii and Nice.

SNOTY is also a stage for honouring the athletes who defined the season. International recognitions went to Solveig Lovseth, Lucy Charles-Barclay, and Kat Matthews on the women’s side, and to Casper Stornes, Kristian Blummenfelt, and Hayden Wilde among the men. Each was celebrated for a year marked by breakthrough moments, resilience or consistent excellence.

National honours spotlighted Laura Philipp and Jonas Schomburg, who were named Athletes of the Year.

One of the evening’s most emotional moments came with the presentation of the Lifetime Award. Alice Walchshofer received the gala’s highest honour, a recognition reserved for individuals whose contribution to the sport is unmatched. Her influence and dedication were celebrated with a standing ovation.

The awards extended across all race formats. World Triathlon Hamburg earned the short distance award, and Allgau Triathlon was named the top middle distance event.
