Sonos recently launched the Sonos Beam Ultra, so it’s no surprise that this older model is on sale right now. It’s a highly capable, compact soundbar with ample connectivity—you can plug it into your TV, but it can also connect to Wi-Fi, pair with other Sonos speakers, and stream using Apple AirPlay 2. WIRED editor Harry Rabinowitz has been using the Beam (Gen 2) for years as a compact companion to his small 43 inch TV setup.

Fire TV Soundbar

One of the most affordable soundbars during Prime Day, the Amazon Fire TV Soundbar is only $80, but still sounds better than most TV speakers. It’s compact at 24 inches long, making it a great fit for smaller rooms or smaller TVs. It doesn’t have Dolby Atmos, but it does support DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio for a basic surround sound feel.

TCL

S65K S Series 5.1 Channel Soundbar System

This soundbar system comes with a soundbar, a subwoofer, and two satellite speakers for a true surround sound experience with deep bass. It’s a top pick for me because of its sound quality—acoustic and folk music is particularly enchanting. It’s also got an easy to use room calibration features. Plus it’s less than $300 for Prime Day.

If you really want the most bang for your buck, the LG S40TR is $200 right now and comes with a soundbar, subwoofer, and two satellite speakers. That’s a huge upgrade from any TV’s built-in speakers, and gives any room a full surround sound feel. It doesn’t have HDMI eARC or Dolby Atmos, however.

The best all-in-one soundbars, the Sonos Arc Ultra is $200 off for Prime Day. What impressed us most about this unit is the Dolby Atmos surround sound. Despite being a single unit, it convincingly places sound around the room, and makes it feel like sounds come from behind the couch or up on the ceiling. Like all Sonos speakers, room calibration is remarkably easy compared to other soundbars.

At just $98, the low-cost Sony S100F soundbar still benefits from Sony’s renown audio tech. It delivers clear bass and supports Sony’s virtual sound system technology that a nice bonus at this low price. It doesn’t support Dolby Atmos or DTS-X, though.
