Triathlete Erica Fox was reported missing on December 21st following a shark encounter near Santa Cruz. According to reports, Fox had been swimming with a group of 13 others when the incident occurred. Her husband of 30 years was swimming approximately 100 yards behind her at the time.
Witnesses reported seeing a shark with a human body in its jaws before Fox disappeared underwater. Her remains were later recovered near Davenport Beach, approximately 25 miles south of where she was last seen. Authorities confirmed she was still wearing her wetsuit at the time of recovery.
