For more than 25 years, stormwater runoff has been implicated in the deaths of thousands of coho salmon in the Pacific Northwest. In 2021, researchers discovered that a common chemical found in tires – 6PPD was responsible and was toxic to many other species, including Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout.
