WTCS Abu Dhabi Finally Gets New Dates and Now Offers Olympic Qualification Points
After months of uncertainty, WTCS Abu Dhabi has been rescheduled for November with Olympic qualification points now on the line.

The WTCS Abu Dhabi and Mixed Relay, originally scheduled for March 28-29 before being postponed due to the war in the Middle East, has been rescheduled for November 13-14, 2026. It will now take place on Hudayriyat Island alongside the 2026 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi.
“I want to thank our Abu Dhabi stakeholders, particularly Abu Dhabi Sports Council, for their commitment and support in helping bring the World Triathlon Championship Series back to Abu Dhabi and alongside one of our biggest events of the year,” said World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany.
“Hosting the WTCS and the Multisport Championships together on Hudayriyat Island creates something truly special, above all for our age-group community, who will now share the stage with the very best athletes in our sport,” he added.
The race will now offer Olympic qualification and World Triathlon Ranking points, along with the regular prize money awarded at WTCS and Mixed Relay Series events. It was not originally set to offer Olympic qualification points because it fell outside the qualification window, making this a notable change – and likely a necessary one to attract a strong field, given that many athletes are now planning their race schedules almost entirely around maximizing their qualification opportunities.
Of note, the event will also take place the same weekend as the Dubai T100 professional women’s race (scheduled for November 14), a race likely to take priority for athletes also pursuing the T100 series. That’s because three of the four regular-season events count toward the overall T100 standings (and corresponding prize purse), whereas the rescheduled Abu Dhabi WTCS event comes after the T100 world champion will already have been crowned at the grand finale in Pontevedra, Spain, in September.
