Triathlon community rallying behind Jeanne Collonge following news of a serious bicycle accident.
The triathlon community is deeply saddened by news concerning a bicycle accident involving French triathlete Jeanne Collonge.
Following an emotional and jubilant second place win at Alpe d’Huez, Jeanne was preparing for the upcoming Ironman in Kalmar.
Yesterday on social media, Yves Cordier, who has known Jeanne for many years, shared that he learned of the accident from Jeanne’s family. Cordier wrote on Facebook (translated from French):
“It was with great emotion that I learned from Jeanne Collonge’s family about her cycling accident, which occurred while she was preparing for Ironman Kalmar.
Everyone knows about the bond we shared for many years, when I had the privilege of being her coach. We have so many unforgettable memories together, particularly in Nice and Aix-en-Provence.
It is sad news from a sporting perspective, as Jeanne was still at the peak of her fitness – probably even in the best shape of her life. But above all, I am deeply saddened that she will likely no longer be able to pursue her passion for physical endeavour and sport in the same way.
Unfortunately, the news is not reassuring. I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed and sending all my support, strength, and courage to Jeanne and her loved ones. I sincerely hope that her recovery progresses as positively as possible.”
Details about when and where the accident occurred, as well as the extent of her injuries, remain limited.
The community is rallying around Jeanne with messages of courage, support, and warm embrace, and we extend our heartfelt support to Jeanne and to her family, friends, and loved ones.
