We’re set for another great weekend of racing at Ironman 70.3 New York. The inaugural event at this destination, held in 2023, sold out just months after opening to general registration and became the largest inaugural event in Ironman 70.3 history. The race has consistently sold out since, and the 2026 edition marks the first time it will host a men’s professional field.

It seems that popularity extends to the pro ranks as well, with 65 men set to line up for a $20,000 prize purse. For comparison, Ironman Pro Series races attracted fields of up to 47 men in 2026, highlighting just how significant the turnout is for Saturday’s race at Jones Beach.

Canadian Lionel Sanders will line up wearing bib number one. He’s coming off a third-place finish at Ironman 70.3 Cozumel this past weekend, where Sanders reportedly raced through illness. We’d love to see the Lion secure another “W” here at Jones Beach.

Ari Klau will also be lining up following podium finishes in each of his last three races: an impressive second at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga, a win at Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, and second at the Ironman Pro Series event in Boise.

And Klau’s training appears to be going well, as highlighted in a recent Instagram post following a swim camp in Slovakia: “Slovakia swim camp ended with @uptogether.triathlon… I’ll have more details on all the swimming and lessons/improvements in another post soon – it was a very productive month!”

Mark “the Shark” Dubrick is another name to watch in New York, having just won Ironman 70.3 Cozumel this past weekend in a new course record of 3:39:18. Dubrick recorded the fastest swim and bike splits of the day en route to his first win of the year and third podium of the season, following third-place finishes at both Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast and Ironman 70.3 Krakow.

And Rodrigo Gonzalez, the runner-up in Cozumel this past weekend, will also be toeing the line in New York. Gonzalez posted the fastest run split in Cozumel, a 1:16:36, in just his second race of the season after finishing third at Ironman 70.3 Peru.Don’t miss the action.
