Zwift Plus adds virtual coaching and video routes for indoor riders
The new upgraded subscription includes adaptive training plans and 21 routes filmed in 6 countries
Just in time for trainer season Zwift has launched a new subscription tier that combines personalized training plans with video footage of real-world cycling routes. That includes some doozies climbs in the French Alps, Mallorca and the Canary Islands. If you’re looking to up your game this winter and crush your pals in the spring on those spicy group rides, it might be worth it.
Called Zwift Plus, the new service costs US $29.99 per month in and gives you access to two main features: Zwift Coach and Zwift Video. You an only get that with the upgraded sub.
Zwift Coach
Zwift Coach builds a training plan around a rider’s goals, schedule, fitness and preferred riding style. It draws on power and heart rate data from Zwift users, along with a training model based on sports science, to recommend workouts and other activities.
The plans aren’t limited to structured sessions. You can also incorporate routes, group rides, events and RoboPacers as well all those fun automated riding groups. The idea is to give you a bit of flexibility rather than forcing them to stick to a rigid schedule. And if you live where the winter is long…you know that motivation can definitely dwindle in January. This way, you can mix it up and keep the spirits high when you’re sweating it out in the basement.
When life gets in the way (or the weather is fab)
The coaching feature also adjusts when plans change. If you miss a workout (happens), goes harder than expected during an event or hey, the weather is good and huzzah, you ride outside instead. Then, Zwift Coach will modify the plan accordingly.
Riders receive guidance before each activity and feedback afterward through the Zwift Companion app.
The other major addition is Zwift Video. There are 21 routes across six countries, offering a combined 385 km of roads filmed in real-world locations.
The selection includes the Col du Galibier and Cime de la Bonette in France, Sa Calobra in Mallorca, Tenerife’s Teide Plateau and roads through Norway’s Lofoten Islands. If you feel like seeing a little more of the (virtual) world, you can also explore routes in South Africa, Utah, Colorado and the Scottish Highlands.
The video routes retain familiar Zwift features. The lovely power-ups, segment leaderboards, experience points and virtual riding buddies, all that jazz. You can repeat routes, pair them with workouts and compare efforts using HoloReplay. (Me and HoloReplay go back, btw.)
And there’s more coming. Zwift plans to add more video routes regularly starting in early 2027. Organized events and MeetUps on the new routes are also expected in the coming months.
If you want to give it a go without fully committing, you can try a 14-day trial, while existing subscribers have access to a limited-time offer for one free month of the upgraded tier. The monthly fee is $37, with the annual coming in at $379.
