In this fly tying tutorial Cheech ties the Project Sculpin!
As you have seen with my fly called the project hopper, there are times when you need to put a little bit more elbow grease into your fly patterns to be able to trick the wariest of trout. I love to tie and fish sculpin patterns and am always trying to come up with something new and realistic that I can try out with the fish. Sometimes these fly patterns end up as staples in my fly box and other times they end up in a trash bin after I have violently thrown something against the wall. This fly came about due to a need to teach how to do wool heads for our skill builder series. This is kind of the fly that I practiced on and ended up looking perfect and swimming perfect. Feel free to tinker with different sizes and different colors as always, but always make sure you have enough weight to keep the fly correctly. Happy tying!
