For professional triathlete Dylan Magnien, the upcoming T100 race in Frejus isn’t just another race. It’s home. It’s personal. And it’s special.
The 30-year-old Frenchman will line up for his first-ever T100 on roads he knows by heart, cheered on by friends, family, and the local triathlon community. “To race a T100 is a huge opportunity,” Magnien told Triathlon Magazine, “but to do it here, on the routes I train on daily – that’s something I couldn’t pass up.”
Making Room for Frejus
Magnien is squeezing the race into an intense build-up for the Ironman World Championship in Nice on September 14. He admitted the timing isn’t ideal, but the pull of racing at home outweighed the risks.
“I might not be completely fresh, but I’m going to give it everything I’ve got,” he said. “I want to represent my hometown and my home club the best I can.”
He accepted a wildcard slot for Frejus after turning down an earlier invitation to race London’s T100. In an Instagram post, he made it clear: London could wait. Frejus couldn’t. “Racing at home is a strength for me. I’ll have more support, and that pushes me to give everything I’ve got until the end.”

Eyes on Nice, Heart in Frejus
While Magnien will be racing without specific goals in terms of placement, he’s using the T100 as a high-stakes tune-up for Ironman Nice.
“I see the T100 Frejus as a final rehearsal before the big goal of my season. I don’t have any specific goals in terms of placing or ranking – just to give my best.”
Breakout Season for Magnien
This season, Dylan Magnien has been delivering standout performances. He kicked off the year with a commanding win at Ironman Lanzarote in May. He followed it up with back-to-back runner-up finishes at Ironman 70.3 Loire Valley and then again at the World Triathlon Long Distance Championships in June.
“I’m really happy with how my season has started! It’s the result of years of hard work finally paying off. This year, I’m going into every race with the desire to give my best without worrying about the result.”
That shift in mindset has clearly paid off. With podiums stacking up and a home crowd behind him, Magnien may be flying under the radar heading into Frejus – but he’s racing with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
