The professional men’s field for Ironman Chattanooga has been confirmed, with several familiar names set to line up on Sunday, September 28th.
Sam Long headlines the start list and brings plenty of attention with what he has dubbed the “Dirty Dog Double.” Just 13 days after racing the Ironman World Championship in Nice, where he placed 14th, Long will return to Tennessee looking for another strong result. He won Ironman Chattanooga in 2024 and also took the title at Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga earlier this year, making him the favourite.
Also attempting the double is Australian Cameron Wurf. The veteran has already logged three full Ironman races and two 70.3 events this season. French athlete Dylan Magnien, 19th in Nice, adds to the group of professionals looking to test their recovery with back-to-back long-course efforts.
Belgian Pieter Heemeryck will use Chattanooga as his first opportunity to qualify for the 2026 Ironman World Championship. The T100 contracted athlete has endured a challenging season, recovering from both a broken collarbone and a sacral stress fracture.
American Trevor Foley comes in riding momentum after a third-place finish at Ironman Lake Placid and runner-up results at Ironman 70.3 Louisville and 70.3 Santa Cruz. Chattanooga offers him another chance to extend his podium streak.
One question lingers for race weekend: whether athletes will be able to complete all three disciplines. The swim was cancelled here in 2024 and again at the 70.3 race in May.
The professional men will begin racing at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Fans can follow live tracking and splits through the Ironman Tracker app.
