After a long hiatus, Tim and Tom are back for a monthly tie-off. Have either of them gotten rusty? We’ll see as the square off to see who can tie the best Dornan’s Water Walker dry fly. And don’t ask what color to use! You can use any color you want.
Here is the pattern in case you want to tie along:
Dornan’s Water Walker
Hook: 2XL dry fly or 3XL nymph hook, sizes 6-12 (will be tying size 8)
Thread: Brown or tan, 6/0
Body: Dubbing, usually brown or tan
Body: 3 mm foam, any color desired to match hoppers or stoneflies present
Underwing: Krystal Flash
Wing: River Foam or similar speckled tan translucent foam
Legs: Silicone legs, Flexi Floss, or similar
Indicator: Orange or yellow foam
