Double Silver for the Knibbs: Taylor’s Mom Shines in Marbella

While the triathlon world was captivated by the professional performances in Marbella this past weekend, another story unfolded under the same finish-line tape.

On the professional side, Taylor Knibb – a name known in every triathlete’s household – once again proved why she stands among the sport’s elite. A three-time Ironman 70.3 World Champion, two-time Olympic medalist, and reigning T100 champion, Knibb delivered another electrifying performance, finishing second.

Meanwhile, on the age-group side, Leslie Knibb, Taylor’s mother, raced her way to a well-earned second-place finish in her age group. For Leslie, a lifelong triathlete who has lived and breathed the sport for three decades, this marks her first 70.3 World Championship podium – one of the few accolades that had eluded her until now.

This moment also marks the fifth time this mother-daughter pair have stood on the same World Championship start line, beginning with the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George, followed by the 2023 Ironman World Championship in Kona, the 2024 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupo, and the 2025 Ironman World Championship in Kona.
